So What Exactly is a Safelist?
A safelist is basically an advertising exchange, where you can join to advertise your business to other people. This is all done by e-mail, so each member must be a double opt-in member to comply with spam laws. This ensures the list is safe to send e-mails to, hence the term "safelist". The catch is that in return for you being able to send e-mail advertisements to other members, they also get to send messages to you. It's normal to receive a couple hundred emails a day per safelist. While you can join most safelists for free, most will offer different membership levels. The levels offer different benefits such as being able to send messages to more members or being able to mail more often. A new type of safelist is getting a lot of excitement from safelist users because it gets much better results. It is called a Credit Based safelist. The reason it converts much better than a regular safelist, is that members actually have an incentive to read the e-mails they receive. At a Credit Based Safelist, members use credits to send their messages. You earn those credits by reading member e-mails. This ensure credit system ensures that members are actually reading your ads because they want to earn credits to promote their own business! This is the basic idea behind safelists. It is a unique, free way to promote your own business or opportunities to other people. Like any advertising method, it has its strengths and weaknesses.
